The RCCS ride this morning turned out to be a solo ride. The usual characters that like to ride in any weather were unavailable. The weather chased off the rest.
I set out just after 9:00 am with light rain. The predicted thunderstorm never materialized, but it was windy and rainy. The rain would sometimes stop, and there was even some occasional sun.
I felt weak and slow during the ride. I averaged just under 10 mph. That’s slow even for me.
The original route was going to be 57 miles. I made several wrong turns, as I often do, but still enjoyed the ride. At 36 miles into the ride I was done. I don’t know why, but I didn’t feel like riding any further. I called for a ride home.
Despite the abrupt ending, I was glad I got out and rode the bike.
you going to post your ridegps route? I don’t recollect the lake or the flat road on previous rides.
I was wondering, yesterday, whether you were out riding, as planned. We had steady rain all day here, glad you had some breaks at least. Good job, getting out and riding, despite the conditions. Your photos turned out great!
Tim,
I could post the planned route, but I ended up off-route twice. Then I bailed early.
This was the planned route:

I ended up following Blue Ridge all the way to Hibernia before heading east on Charlestown-Bethlehem Rd.
I also ended up on Miles Rd east of Paynesville Rd. That wasn’t quite on my route either.
I wrapped things up at New Washington.
Apertome,
Thanks for the encouragement. I felt horrible. I was sick again today. I think I’ve figured it out though. My new diet is not working well.
I’m going to have to go back to a more traditional “watch what I eat” diet. Then I’ll have the energy to ride again.
Tim,
I just noticed you mentioning the “lake”. That was the Ohio River at Bethlehem.
