I visited a local gym with my daughter the other day. I’m not ready to commit to a membership yet. I used to own an elliptical, and I found it horribly boring.
However, I’m now seeing a personal trainer for upper-body strength, under doctor’s orders, for arthritis in my shoulder. These sessions are expensive, luckily my insurance company covers most of it. I know it’s only temporary, so I’m considering a gym membership.
There are days where I can’t (or won’t) ride the bike. Having another option is a good thing.
While I was there, I found out about the “student special”, where my daughter could use the gym for three months. She was interested, so I signed her up. We’ve got three months for $99.
I still don’t have a membership, and I’m not sure I will, but I am seriously considering it.
I go to the downtown Y, though I’m on the other side of the river from you. One of the nice things about the YMCA is that you don’t have a contract, so you aren’t stuck paying for a full year (or longer) if you end up not liking it.
