I had originally planned on riding to work today. I really enjoyed riding both to and from yesterday. The Spring weather makes it so much nicer.
I woke up this morning at 5:00 a.m. (thanks to my girlfriend for the wake-up phone call). I had a sore, scratchy throat, sinus pressure, and a headache. I set my alarm for 7:00, and figured I’d feel better, and drive into work.
I woke up feeling worse, especially the throat. I’ve recently been exposed to strep throat… so I called off work, and called my doctor. I have an appointment later today.
A good workout on the bike generally leads to heavy breathing, which is the last thing I want right now. So I’ll stay inside, mess with the computer, and do some housework.
Severe bummer, David! Like you, I absolutely loathe being sick. I’m not a pleasant person, then, either, although Jenn found out I can still crack some (to her) pretty funny jokes in the throes of illness.
Get well thoroughly and soon.
Ouch, strep is so painful! I hope you feel a lot better soon.
They swabbed my throat and said I was negative for strep. There was something going on there, so the doctor gave me an rx for antibiotics anyway.
Thanks, I’ll try to feel better. 🙂
I doubt you rode to work Wednesday, David, given your illness. You didn’t miss a fun ride–you would have had 15-30kt headwinds all the way to Jeff. My legs were soaked when I got to work.
Tom,
You are right. I am at work, but I drove.
I’m still not feeling great. The HR guy here stopped by and let me know I could leave early if I want. I have a lot to do, so I probably won’t.
I really had no intention of riding today, no matter what the weather.
When I did drag myself out of bed this morning, I could hear the wind. Although it did let up some by the time I was on the road, it still would have made for a slow, wet ride.
It is that time of year. Time for wind, rain, storms, and, yes, getting sick.
Look on the bright side. Nermal will have a new back wheel this weekend.
I hope you get to feeling better soon.
Stay out of the rain, I hope it is over for a while…
