Back on the Wagon

I rode to work today.  It’s been over two weeks since I rode to work.  It was a beautiful 50 degrees with a few clouds.  Traffic was tolerable.  I made good time, at one hour and ten minutes.

I’ve been lazy, but made up my mind this weekend to overcome it.  Today was a great start.  It felt good to arrive at work completely awake.

I’ve spent too much time thinking of my 33-mile round trip as long.  Thinking of it that way makes it hard to do everyday.  I need to remember that I’ve been on several trips longer than that, and that weren’t split in half by a work day.  If I can convice myself that the 16.5 mile one-way is “short” then I’ll do it more often.  If I can get where I can do it in an hour or less, that’ll make it easier.

  1. That’s a mighty narrow wagon, there, David! It only has two wheels! The last wagon I pulled had four wheels and could carry three round bales of hay.

I’ve been riding some, too. Teaching others that there is more to riding a bike than riding the bike as well.

  2. You haven’t seen me on a grocery run have you? 🙂 I use the bungee cords.

I know you’ve been riding. It’s been (mostly) great weather. I’ve been the slacker. My weight started climbing again, so I know it’s time to get back on the bike (wagon) and watch my eating.

  3. I road a seven mile trip from Church to my wife’s work last Friday, biggest ride in years for me!
I bought some slicks for the MTB, I hope to get them installed after work tonight and try them out.
I hope to get another “long” ride in Friday, maybe a repeat with the new tread!

Glad to hear you are back in the grove!

  4. Mark,

If we can schedule some time, I have a nice 11-mile loop I ride sometimes. I also have a 16-mile loop if you are feeling adventurous. 🙂

I rode Monday, but it doesn’t look like I’ll ride again this week. I was home sick on Tuesday. I was still sick (but at work) yesterday. I’m feeling better today, but I really would prefer to ride Nermal in rainy weather (the rain cape works better that way), but won’t have the new wheel installed until this weekend.

I’ve also been driving *a lot*. My girlfriend lives too darn far away. 🙂
