This blog turns one year old today. Hopefully in another year it will be obsolete.
My focus in this blog has changed over the course of a year. I started out posting what my goals were, and why I had those goals. Later it was more of a public humiliation into losing weight.
As of today, I’m down 67 lbs, and have 54 more to go. I still adjust my goals as necessary, but the why is pretty ingrained in my head.
Many of my recent posts have been out bicycling. That has been one the major areas of focus for my life over the last few months. I have picked up a few readers along the way because of that, and probably lost a couple.
I no longer find posting my weight, or progress pictures humiliating. It’s just part of what I do, almost becoming part of who I am. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or not.
When we make a move (change?) we are pretty much guaranteed of three things:
One: Some will love it!
Two: Some will hate it!
Three: Some don’t care either way.
But things that don’t move are dead…
I am one that found your blog because of your bicycle connection. But I’ll probably stay a while regardless. My bicycle is more than likely a passing fancy for me, it just has not passed yet.
There are other connections. I’m a diabetic 12 years now, and always struggle with my weight. The bicycle was in large part to help keep me more active and build muscle mass to cut down on my insulin usage. Weight today 227…
Like Mark, I found this blog through cycling–more specifically, the utility bike list server. I’m usually not one to read a lot of blogs, but there are a few I’ll peek in on once in a while.
Bicycling as a focus of life can be a good thing. My bicycle is my friend, and many of my best friends have been met via cycling.
Dave, congrats on the continued weight loss. As with any major life change, there will be good days and bad, but overall, you’ve been making the days good.
Dude, congrats! I can’t believe it has been a year. David, you have set some great goals in your life and I’m glad to see you continuing to work towards those goals. You got me back focused on my weight a year ago. I need to re-focus again. I glad to see you’re still at it and the blog is still being used. Hopefully, it will be obsolete this time next year.
