A Little Exposure at Work

I started this blog to document my weight loss, and publicly embarrass myself.  I knew people from work would see it.  Other than comments that I should wear more in the progress pictures, the comments at work have been positive.

A few weeks ago, I had a little media exposure, and that really got people at work talking.  Today, my company blogged about the TV spot featuring me.

I really feel bad now…. I didn’t ride my bike to work today.  I haven’t ridden to work yet this week.  Oh well, there are still three more days in the week.

  1. Dude!!! you’re famous!!

2 thoughts… get a flag!! anything to be more visible… and.. OMG I’d forgotten how bike friendly the places I’ve been are.. Colorado, Utah, California.. have big bike lanes.. I don’t think I’ve EVER had to ride mid-lane like that.. you’ve got a pair of iron stones!!

  2. I’m certainly not famous, but I have had a few random strangers recognize me. It’s weird.

A flag would be a bit a an inconvenience. My bike is stored indoors at home and work. I have to take it up the elevator at work. I am planning on more lights and reflective strips though.

Sadly, I removed my big orange triangle. I still haven’t found a way to mount it properly.

As far as “taking the lane”, it’s necessary in many places. If the cars have to change lanes to go around, they are less likely to hit me. I’m also more visible that way. You’ll notice that I’m on the shoulder on the 4-lane divided highway though. Most of it has a wide shoulder, and the speed limit is 55.
