Current Bikes
Surly Big Dummy
I bought this bike used in October of 2011. I’ve been living a car-free lifestyle and needed an easier way of hauling groceries, pet supplies, and potential dates. :)
With a weight capacity of over 400lbs, this is a very versatile bike. I don’t expect to set any speed records on it though.
1980s Raleigh Record Single-Speed Conversion
I purchased this bike as a used frame with many new parts from a bike shop in September of 2010. It was originally a minimalist fun bike. I liked it so much I added dynohub lighting, fenders, racks, and bags for commuting.
So much for minimalism.
Bacchetta Agio
I bought this bike new in July 2008. I was still fairly new to bicycling and thought I needed a recumbent due to butt pain. It became my primary bike until I bought the Long Haul Trucker. I’m still glad to have this bike around since I developed cervical spine issues. I ride this bike during flare-ups. It’s also fun just to ride something different.
Former Bikes
Dahon Speed D7
This folding bike was a gift. It’ll be useful when traveling. I also use it as a guest bike, or loaner bike since it will fit nearly anybody. It was given to me in July of 2010.
I sold this bike in March 2012 to pay taxes.
Surly Long Haul Trucker
I bought this bike new in January 2010. It’s been on one short tour, and a couple of camping trips. It’s also my go-to bike for most long rides. I’ve put more miles on this bike than any of the others.
I sold this bike in March 2012 to pay taxes.
Giant Cypress ST
I bought this bike in April 2008. I was clueless about bicycling. I spent a lot of money on upgrades getting it to be a useful bike. It was an inexpensive bike, and I abused it. It was stripped of parts and discarded after the bottom bracket shell cracked in May 2010.
I bought my daughter the same model bike in a smaller size when I bought this. She rode hers less, but had it longer. Hers was stolen August 2011.

Recently discovered your blog. Checked out your bikes; I have a Dummy too which serves as my motivation for a car-lite life. Happy NY.
